Weekly Update – 9/12/2016

Alright, so things are really busy over here (hence the scarce updates). Secrets is almost done and I found out not long ago that I’m doing a book launch this weekend for Winter’s Child. I’ve been busy preparing for a children’s story time for that event and doing last minute Secrets edits so I apologize if there hasn’t been much else going on lately.

Over the past two weeks I have released 6 chapters of Secrets (Chapter 37 – 42) and you can find links to all of the chapters by clicking on the below image:

Or find them on Wattpad.

I have also added a Contact page up there on the menu where you can drop me a line if you’d like. (Like to complain about this week’s cliffhanger for instance. Sorry.)

I apologize for the brief update and hopefully I’ll have some more posts and content once the holiday rush comes to a close. Thanks to everyone who has been reading so far, I’m so excited to be finishing up this story.

Weekly Update – 28/11/2016

First piece of news: I bought my domain name. That means you can find me at amynotdorft.com with no wordpress at the end. Yay!

Otherwise, I received an interesting update the other day about a project and because of that I’ve been really busy these past few days making promo stuff (hence the late post). Thank you for your patience! I will share more information as I can.

Anyway, not too much happened last week release-wise — just a few Secrets chapters. You can find them below.

November and December are very busy months for me (it’s a tradition to make handmade gifts for Christmas plus I have an event I’m prepping for) and so aside from a little site maintenance and my scheduled Secrets updates, you probably won’t see too much from me.

As always, thank you for checking out my blog (and hopefully my writing)! To those finishing up NaNoWriMo… you guys are amazing. Whether you met your goal or not, give yourself a pat on the back for all the hard work you put in! And keep writing!

Weekly Update – 19/11/2016

So first and foremost… yes. It is finished:

If you click the above image it will take you to my latest horror story – just as requested. I would love to hear what people think of this one. It was inspired by a novel I wrote back in April for Camp NaNoWriMo and I would very much love to turn it into something bigger. Specifically a series of connected short stories.

I also released two chapters of Secrets and Skin this week, which you can find below:

Or find it on Wattpad.

As mentioned last week, I will be adding a chapter release per week for Secrets. Chapter 34 will be available this upcoming Tuesday. I would like for the novel to be available in its entirety by Christmas, or New Year’s at the latest so I can focus my attention on other projects. Don’t get me wrong, I love Secrets… but I’m eager to move on.

There probably won’t be too many short story or Ganymede releases over the next few weeks because I am incredibly busy, but I promise that there will be a preview for a new project with the end of Secrets.

Speaking of which… I better get back to writing. Have a good weekend everyone!

Weekly Update – 12/11/2016

Yep… so that date up there is a bit of a lie. Today is actually Sunday, November 13th but technically it’s an update for last week that should have come out yesterday and I’m a horrible person.

Alright, so this week has been a disaster – sick kid and personal health problems – so I am admittedly behind. Secrets and Skin is up to date though, so that’s something! You can find this week’s chapters here:

In case you didn’t notice, I did promise you a horror story this (aka last) week. I failed to meet that promise and I apologize. It is in the works and I’m kinda excited about it to be honest. In lieu of an actual story… I will tell you that it is based on a novel I wrote for Camp NaNoWriMo earlier this year and I am interested in turning it into more than just a one off. It’s very distinct from Host and I think it plays on a different type of fear. Which is to say… I really hope you guys like it. I swear to the elder gods that it will be out this week.

To make up for my tardiness I will tell you a secret. A secret about Secrets. That secret is this:

It is complete. I am still doing some edits but I can promise that it will be fully released by the new year. That means some bonus chapters will be coming out soon, so keep your eyes peeled for those.

Finally, I have the Amazon link for my collaboration with Paris artist Rita Guiducci: Winter’s Child. In case you missed it, Winter’s Child is a Christmas book aimed at children and adults alike. It is filled with stunning pastel and water colour illustrations.

If you missed the Christmas in Paris event this weekend, you can still pick up the book from Amazon HERE.

Alright, that’s all from me for now. If you have any questions or feedback about anything, please feel free to leave me a comment below!

Updates, Covers and Audio!??

As usual let’s start with the week’s updates:

Secrets and Skin has two new chapters out, you can find them here:

Chapter 15

Chapter 16

In case you missed it last week, there were also two short story updates:

Good Girl (previously published on The Purple Fig)

Fairy Story

I also have a twitter account now! If you want to stay up-to-date with all of my ongoing releases and news you can check it on the right —>
(Follow me… I’m lonely!)

Secrets and Skin (2)

Next: I’m getting some feedback that the current cover for Secrets is a bit racy, suggesting that it is in fact an erotic novel or heavily romantic… which if you’re reading it… you know is not at all the case. So I’m looking into updating it. If you have any suggestions for imagery please let me know – I’m struggling to find something appropriately urban-fantasy-ish  while still staying true to its tone.

Finally… it turns out I may have access to a recording studio. For a while now I’ve been playing with the idea of recording Secrets and Skin and basically releasing the audio chapters along with the written ones. Would anyone be interested in this? Obviously this would take some time and resources so I’d like to have an idea of interest before I begin.

Let me know what you think in the comments and maybe I can put together a sample audio chapter in a couple weeks!

Children’s Book and Chapter Updates

News!

First of all Secrets and Skin: Chapter 13 came out last Friday and Chapter 14 is out now!

You can also read them on Wattpad.

There should be a couple short story additions over the course of the week. I’ll include links to them in next week’s blog post but in theory one should be up today and another Friday. (EDIT: Oh, look…. I got one up already. You can check out my previously published story, Good Girl now.)

Finally… drum roll please…

winters-child

Over the past year or so I have been collaborating with my husband’s mother (an artist from Paris, Ontario… you can check out her Facebook page HERE) on a children’s Christmas book.

And voila!

winters-child-2

The books will be sold at the Christmas in Paris art event (again Paris, Ontario) and I will post the details for that as it gets closer. They will also be available on Amazon and I will share those details as well.

Winter's Child 3.jpg

As you can see it features some absolutely stunning artwork and a whimsical story of the magical, but brief, life of a snowflake born on Christmas Eve.

So yes, very exciting stuff!

If anyone is curious about the self-publishing process (we used CreateSpace) and what we learned as complete newbies navigating it, I would be happy to dedicate a blog post to it. I am definitely not an expert, but I learned A LOT fumbling my way through it the first time.

Until next time, hope you are all enjoying the last few weeks of summer and good luck to those just beginning the school year!
