I woke to find the world
Cherry blossoms on a snowy afternoon. 🌸
A safe distance.
I don't write a lot of poetry about being a mom because sometimes I need a space that's about the other parts of me. I love poetry about motherhood and parenting, some times it is the only thing that keeps me from feeling completely alone, but I often find myself writing about the other aspects of my life. Especially during a pandemic where my mom hat has been on 24/7 for over a year. Sometimes I feel like the other parts of me... especially the nerdy ones... get lost beneath what everyone thinks it should mean to be a "mom."
Rather say that they are "skilled."
Because the universe is not obligated to tell me of your passing.
